First post here, so hello to all.... :D

I've just bought a manual 2004 Freelander TD4 with 57k on the clock (cost me over £9k from a garage - that's what the bad weather has done to 4x4 prices!!) and I am hoping someone can explain what the buttons on the speedo are meant to do.

Essentially I have two buttons - the right one seems to alternate between mileage and the trip counter and if I hold it down the trip resets itself to zero, so that all seems to be fine, however, the other button (the one to the left of the speedo) doesn't seem to do anything. I've presseed it and held it down on both the mileage and trip views, but nothing. I don't have cruise control so is it something to do with that?

Any comments would be most appreciated..

Allan - Many thanks for the response. It'll explain why I couldn't find any reference to it in the owner's manual :)

Hi. Hopefully Davec is correct.

The Freelander has a rover metro esque 'digital clock' which as we all know doesn't have a temp gauge on it, maybe the USA market insisted and this is where it's hidden?
