Hi all
I'm in the process of fitting taller tyres to my D2, and i know the speedo reading will be out because i had the same problem with my old 200Tdi.
I believe there is a plug in electronic adapter that i can use but am having problems finding one on the net, I think it was sold by Ashcroft transmissions but cannot find it on there website any more, does anyone have any ideas where i can get one ore any other suggestions please .

Already have a TomTom :), just would like to have the speedo a bit closer to its original accuracy as i know bigger tyres can make it under read, good for not getting a ticket but not so good for working out fuel consumption.
 
Hi, unfortunately i dont know any unit which works on a D2 available in Europe, unless you find a speedo corrector unit in UK for which the supplier confirms under warranty that it works on the D2, read the whole thread https://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-2-a/205834-speedo-correction-d2-32s.html ...though the speedo should be your last concern if you go for more than 5% bigger tyres without dedicated tuning for them as you can have serious power and consumption issues corroborated with high EGT

I suppose if he were hot on pooters he could design a speedo dial which matches his speed as indicated on tom Tom etc. The difference is usually just a small percentage. And then print it out and stick it over the old one. ;)

Thanks for the info and link, have read through it several times and decided that the best thing to do is leave well alone, the company in the link don't seem to be about anymore and even then i would have to find a decent auto electrician to do the work.

Not such a bad idea, already got some speedo overlays from converting bike speedos from kph to mph :)

Interesting read in those links :).
At the moment i have, egr delete, dewebbed manifold Serck intercooler and decat down pipe, also on the cards centre box derestrict, more freeflowing air filter and a visit to 5Alive for a remap, so looks like I'm on the right course.
As a aside in the links you mention several times EGT gauges, is there a specific make you would recommend ??, and at the risk of people giggling where is the best place for the probe as there don't seem to be a flat spot on the manifold to drill and tap.

Tell those who do the remap all the tuning you have and the tyre sizes and they should know what to do, i fitted a cheap chinese digital gauge form ebay and drilled for the probe into the EGR blanking plate, it's good enough to see if something is wrong, the coolant temp gauge is good as well cos the dash indicator goes to the middle at 70*C and stay there untill 119 so quite useless, mines are on the wrong side for you :cool:

Bigger tyres make your speedo read under, which means it's easier to get a ticket, not harder! Eg when speedo says 30, your really doing 32
