Ah, that story has been embellished. It is meant to be from East Lothian out my way, and the story was that the fuzz had a mobile radar speed trap on the A1 out past Haddington. We often get Tornado's fairly low, buzzing the A1. When the bored plod got a radar lock on the Tornado, the tornado's defence systems sent a jamming signal to fry the circuit board of the speed gun.

Sounds like this story has grown legs since! 'twas the talk of our village for a couple of days, but it's quiet here - no pubs so all we do for entertainment is play 'hunt the stranger' with pitchforks n stuff...:D

First of all, Dont admit the offence and dont send back there letter !!!!!

The plod love it when you put your hands up and say twas me officer !!!!!

Im sure you were on your way to help your poor old sick mother or your carb butterfly had jammed wide open !!!!!

The local CPS office will make a choice of course only on the information that YOU supply , You NEVER say it was you driving the vehicle, it may even end up forgoten about and lost in there system.

They only have 60 days to in law to get a reply from you , so sit on the letter and see what happens next !!!!!

this will make em all slow down. we need these in the UK.

Well, it looks like the stakes have just been raised. . . .
Yet another nice letter from the Cambs Constabulary where they note that I have a “licence issued by a Member State of the European Union” and regretfully inform me that they are only able to offer me a Fixed Penalty on a “GB counterpart”.

However they have also thoughtfully enclosed a D9 form for the application for a “GB counterpart” licence.

Thank you, but no thank you.

Though they give me the option to proceed, they obviously want, if not, expect the D9 licence application to be submitted.

I will pay the fine, but can they make me exchange my licence?
What exactly is a “GB counterpart”??

if you are a citizen of a EU country you can only drive for so long on your countries licence if you have taken up residense in another country.you have to exchange your licence for one of your adopted country within, and am not sure on this , 6 months. i dunt know cos, she who is no longer in charge, did it shortly after we got off the ferry. leaving no meands of pleading tourist when stopp by 'john damm'..
I once got pulled in wolverhampton fer speedin. plod was gonna give me a fixed penalty till he found out i was from scotland.. i got a fine sent from the court in wolerhampton for 20quid. ii rushed to see my mp as i was sure the fixed fine was only 15 squid.
after many days in the houses of parliment arguing my case , my mp wrote to me telling how the fixed penalty was 22quid..
i then went out , bought a shovel, dug a big hole and hid!

it used to be 6 months. my father did it with his raf germany licence.
