Well the timing pin for the pump is 9.5mm, of which a drill bit can be used. Set your crank to tdc and make sure the locking slot is visible in the flywheel, if you have a flywheel locking pin then insert it. In theory if your pump timing is bob on, you should be able to slide the drill bit into the locking hole of the pump (under the little cover with 3 bolts in timing case). If not, then slacken the the 3 retaining bolts on the pump gear, and gently rotate the pump using a 22mm socket on the centre nut whichever way you need too. You shouldn't need to go anymore than the adjustment allowed by the bolts slots. This will however only be the case if the pump spindle hasn't been moved in the past. I have read on other forums in the past the the factory set lift on the pump, when timed with a dti guage should be 1.54mm at tdc, and some people say that advancing the timing to give a plunger lift of 1.6mm will improve things a lot for top end motorway power. James Martin gave me some good advice on advancing the pump timing not too long ago and I'm sure if he sees this he will elaborate.
I've got myself wondering now if the guy who dti timed mine has got it right. I really should buy the adapter and do it myself.
 
I have a 2.5na standard military 110 and it'll sit at 60 easy and top out at 70 - 75. I thought the tdi's managed a bit more speed with less throttle.
 
TBH, my 3.5 V8 needs a bit of work to get up to those speeds.. Its shoots upto 50, then takes a fair while, it will hit 80-85 on the motorway, but give it a long hill and it will slow down and i will need to change down.. But i did not buy it to cruise on the motorway :), its got a 2 inch lift and large tyres so they will not be helping things, I always find my self just cruising around 50 - 60 seems very happy there :)
