Hmmn, so why would this be removed from a brand new vehicle then ?

"This badge has been taken off a brand new vehicle and as you can see is in perfect condition.

The tape on the back will probably need replacing."

The badge seems genuine enough, same as what I have on my freelander commercial. The majority were a resin domed badge, I have only seen very few alloy special vehicles badges.

not sure I'd pay £62 for it though

special vehicles badges were fitted to commercial variants and special orders.

might be a good idea before someone else does:doh:;)

the landy is parked in my garage at night an my bed room backs on to the garage an when am out an about its always in sight can't be to careful these days the cnuts will rob the eyes out your head if your not lookin :D

i got given the badges aswell can't believe thay cost that much :D

It's a genuine LR Special vehicles badge. Its the newer version - the old one looked like this

Special Vehicles usually have two of these badges, one on each side on the front wing, below the air intake panels.
These alloy badges retail for about 50 quid plus vat from LR, but you need a Special Vehicle chassis number and Head Office have taken a shine to making people fax their V5 to them, to ensure they are entitled to the badge...

You are concerned that it's a genuine special vehicles badge yet if your vehicle was a special you'd already have one. Sticking a special vehicles badge on your not special vehicle makes you a tosser I'm sorry to say.

but if your vehicle is a full custom rebuild an looks better then a special vehicle then i think you can get away with it
any one can buy a special vehicle not every one can build a special truck

but if your vehicle is a rusty nail that's just had a paint job:eek::eek: then yes i agree :D

I think you misunderstand. Yes anyone can build themselves a 'special' landrover, but only those variants produced by the factory and the SV department are "Special Vehicles".

I'm afraid that you sticking those badges on your truck, if it is not a pukka SV would be like me labelling my TD5 a Disco 3 just cos it's my third one.

Exactly, whichever way you cut it you are still trying to make your vehicle (no matter how "special" you might think it is) out to be something which officially it will NEVER be, ;););)

an not every one knows how to build a proper defender coz av see some bad bags of s**t on ebay claiming rebuilds same as some people claim good con when its a bad turd peoples perspective of stuff is far different to others
