Hi, recently bought the wife a TD4 Freelander, I have been sorting out a few issues. One is the poor stereo. I am going to replace all speakers, but if I fit full range speakers will they receive all frequencies using the original connections or is there a crossover somewhere as it currently has tweeters in the doors aswell

Its a 2003 Serengeti. I have already replaced the head unit because when I bought the car the radio was asking for a code. One rear speaker does not work and the fronts sound very poor

try cleaning the wires on the end of them as they get corroded, Landrover admit the wiring from china is bad, a landrover agent changed mine when I brought the car as some speakers were not working ,and now after a wire change they are all good.

I did a lot of testing on the standard speakers. They are cheap but do sound pretty good if they work.
The front lower speakers are full range, supplemented by a pair of tweeters with crossovers in the mirror cover trims.
Rear speakers are the same full range units as the fronts
If working correctly, the standard speakers will take a proper 20 to 30 Watts. Any replacement head unit needs to be capable of driving them. They do lack a bit of low frequency punch but fitting more expensive replacements won't improve that situation as the doors rattle anyway.
I fitted my V6 with a sub woofer which is a much better solution.

Cheers, I am going to replace the rears and see what it sounds like. I'll probably replace fronts also. It just sounds very tinny at the mo. Checked the connections on left front and left rear, still the sound is poor

Nodge, I like your sub in the floor but my hole in floor gets wet. I would have to sort this 1st
