After changing the Cambelt and FIP belts a couple of weeks ago, I noticed this lone connector in the battery box area, close to the ECU's. I can't remember if I disconnected it from it's mate or whether it is just a spare. I cannot see anything in the area which it would fit.
The car started fine and no faults are logged, all functions appear to be working correctly.
Can anyone enlighten me ?? It's the grey one in the centre of the picture

@Irishrover

Spent an evening searching , have a look at ur right hand side ( as u look at the engine ) EGR valve

See if that’s the connector plse :)

I'll have a look tomorrow whilst checking for the heated washers and update you.

Apologises going off tangent , the heated washer jets thinking about it u wouldn’t have touched and Wiring is tucked away , right in the corner going up to the heated washer jets

Fingers crossed it will be the egr actuator , lol

Thks and see what u find

Do you have fuel burning heater?

Yes but I am pretty certain I didn't disconnect anything as I was concentrating on replacing the FIP belt first as it looked to be the hardest part of the belt changes. I disconnected the harnesses to the ECU's at the back of the battery box in order to swing them over to the other side of the engine for access. jus can't remember if I disconnected the connector in question or not

Pic 1- EGR Cooler connection
2.-Cable entry view -spare connector
3- View of pins (5 of them) spare connector
4-Approx. length of cable from out of the loom ducting 9"

Yes the car has heated washer jets but the cable colours are different. The FBH connectors are in place.
Dismantled the battery box and have looked everywhere within the range that the connector and it's cables will allow and cannot find a match or any connectors without a mate.

Looks very like this, even the wire colours seem to match.... it's for manual transmission modells, not used on autos but it might be part of the main harness on all

according to a more explicit layout it is near the battery so IMO you can rest your mind on this

Thanks for that info....appreciated
That makes a lot of sense as LR tend to use a lot of "One size fits all" wiring looms rather than have specific looms made for all the different level options.
'll go along with that as all electrical functions are working as normal.

Hi

Great info as always

May i ask where u got the pics and details from plse , as funny enough I’ve been trying to find the heated windscreen washer jet connector and as mines a base model wondering where it’s located plse

Many thks as always

@Irishrover

Another D3 owner sent over pictures of that plug, he said it plugs into the main loom near the battery ecu

He’s got an automatic

As a side note, he’s currently replacing his crossover pipe , is slightly on the involved side , lol

sorry for the delay in replying. Here is some info from the wiring diagram:
Both heated jets are controlled by Relay "f" in the battery fusebox and protected by fuse F12
No worries and quite understand

How’s the fuel leak going or shall I duck as u throw something ;)

Haven't done anything further on that Gary as I have two options open to me which I have to consider.
a)
Do I get it relayed to a specialist and then have to accept an "Open cheque" scenario with the possibility of a bill which could run in to four figures-which I can ill afford. In view of the constant setbacks, my confidence in the problem being 100% fixed has been deeply dented.

b)
Take the hit and just get rid of the car as it stands at present. Pity really as the car is immaculate and top of the range. Other than this problem, the mechanics and electrics all function as they should.

I had a P38, 4.6 HSE for years and replaced the engine and BECM but apart from that, it served me well.
The Freelander, TD4 ES had the usual minor problems but could be relied upon never to let me down.

Have to think long & hard this weekend what to do about the Disco.

If all else fails at least with the fuel leak it will burn easily
Unfortunately John, diesel doesn't seem to ignite as easily as petrol :D:D
May decide to spray the engine with a couple of gallons of super unleaded to get rid of the lakes of diesel that are lying about an pay particular attention to the exhaust downpipes then take it for a good "Burn up" down the A55 !!!:D:D
