(Apart from help an possibly brain surgery!)
Got boost alloys all round , and 1 spare , I want to take two spare when I go to Wales ...do I need to get another boost or can I get a steel the same size ...I'm reading this and thinking , yep its a dumb question , course I can , but can I buy just one wheel?
 
If you go for a steel one try and size the tyre so the rolling circumference is the same as your standard tyres, Don't forget you will also need 5 x wheel nuts for steel rims (they are different from alloy ones)

Thanks ...so I have AT2 on the four , i still have the original LR General grabber TR on the spare , so as long as I ditch that , get the same size rim and two new AT2's I'll be ok right? Oh and the 5nuts ...
 
You can actually run it with a different size tyre but if the size difference is large it might sit low or high on one corner. Also matched tyre sizes theoretically save a bit of wear on the diffs.
 
Why not just get a Boost wheel then everything matches and everything's interchangeable? That's what I'm doing next pay day.

Well, it's not that difficult, whether it's from a parts supplier
BOOST | 16x7 Boost Five Spoke Deep Dish Alloy for Disco 1 and RRC.
or off Ebay, they're out there.

I know you could probably get a cheap steel wheel for around half the price but I think it's more use to have something that's identical to your existing wheels and you can swap around to your heart's content.
 
My mates disco is on alloys with a steel spare
the wheel nuts for the alloys are tapered at the end to fit in the tapered nut holes in the steel wheels, so only one set of studs are needed

this my not be the case on yours though
If in doubt please get some one to check for ya because its very important they are right
 
TD5 being a Discovery 2 won't take that wheel.

If you have a Discovery 1 then it will fit.

My D2 has 18 inch alloys all round with 255/55 R18 tyres. However, the spare bolted to the back door is a 16 inch alloy with a 235? I think /75 R16 tyre. No problem as the overall diameter (rolling diameter) is very nearly the same for both wheels.

I did however, buy an 18 inch alloy off ebay and then get a new tyre fitted to that, so I carry two spares ;) The one inside the car acts as an impromptu boot tidy!
 
I think Muds has a defender so the older, wide stud spacing wheels would fit. Yes indeed, with the Discovery, the D2 onwards went to narrow stud spacing.
