is it possible to get a blank key so i could then get it cut to the same as my original?

i know a place that will code it at a fairly cheap price

asked the dealership and i would probably need a mortgage!

I believe the key is numbered and has to be set up in someway to your car. Or I could have made that bit up

no you are right sirus this is what the coding guy told me but he doesnt have a supplier of blank RR keys

alls i need it a key that hasnt been cut, suppose ill have to go round a few key cutters

You used to be able to gett blanks off ebay.....I'm sure I read that even with these though it was a complete pain in the arse to sync them as your only allowed 2 keys on the car and it had to be removed or something......maybe I dreamt it

On the P38 you are given (originally) 3 keys a dark grey one a light grey one, and an emergency key (with no leccy in it, its just a plain key)

Yes you can get a blank key cut at a good locksmith, No you can't get the key recoded. As has been posted on here-many times-every key has an unique fingerprint called the lockset code which is programmed into the BECM. When you press the fob button the code is sent to the BECM for a match-no match,no start,no remote unlock. Your expert may be good, but I doubt he's not that good. New keys are cut in the U.K, then sent to Germany to have the unique code programmed relative to your VIN. Time and time again these Ebay sellers list them and get mugs to buy them sometimes for around £50. Only sure way to get it to work is to buy the keys,BECM, door and ignition locks as a set.
