Not when the door holes are out by 10mm you don't. The hinge holes are at fixed centres. Following your/SP instructions would mean having to drill four new holes in the rear of tub bodywork!!

For your reference.

Here you can see that at production, there are no hinge holes in the vehicle for the rear door.

On fitting the half door, you have received, you would fit hinges to the door, offer the door up to the vehicle & then you would drill the holes.

I am assuming this would been the way you have attempted to fit the door.

We sell a large quantity of this half rear door and never come across the issue, you're having, until today. <<this, absolute lies...!!<<

Kind Regards,

Ashleigh

Dear Ashley,

Not only can SP/JWP not produce to standard specification, you cannot get collection dates correct within correspondence; stating both 1st March and 1st April 2021 for collection [?!] I confirm the Land Rover door will be ready for collection Monday 1st March from my home address. Please ensure there is absolutely no delay in issuing a full refund.

Thank you for your feedback.

I can request a courier to collect the door on Monday 1st March between 8am & 5pm

As soon as the door is back with us (usually the next day) I will process a full refund.

Please confirm Monday 1st April is a suitable day for the collection.

Kind Regards,

Ashleigh

Dear Josette,

To be frank, I'm not interested in comparing other doors. SP/JWP Trading should be producing Land Rover doors to original specification drawings and, therefore, producing right first time product. As a senior consulting engineer I know how easy it is to produce such a simple product.

Regarding comparing doors, SP/JWP already know they are producing ill fitting doors. The majority of global Land Rover forums/websites are full of critique of the SP/JWP product, often with damming criticism of your hinge hole locations. The only reason these errors take place is due to the absolute lack of basic product Quality Control.

Where SP/JWP Trading have ignored my request to send out a new door and to provide a contact telephone number, I give notice of cancelling my order for full refund due to faulty/not fit for purpose product. Pls arrange a time to collect your faulty door and kit from my home. I expect this to be expedited immediately.

Good Morning v8250,
Thank you for your previous email, I apologise about the door error and for any inconvenience caused. What we can do is arrange a collection to get the door returned to us to review it and compare it to other doors to make sure they don't have the same defect and then will send a replacement out to you after that.
Kind Regards,

Josette

Utter nonsense. Ashleigh is who I dealt with too, you can say you know for a fact that she knows there is an issue and is therefore lying as she has dealt with the very same issue with someone else, i.e. me! I was not the first either, you can also comment that you know that Paul made comment to someone you know (me) that the problem had been fixed and was now impossible to reoccur.

Not only were the holes squint on my door, by around 12mm, but they were too far apart so they didn't line up with the hole spacing on the LR hinges.

It's terrible, when I rx'd this email from SP/Ashley this morning I immediately thought of you - it was at this point I thought, "f**k it, they can pay full cost and collect their door kit from my front door!!" I actually wanted to give them the chance to fully redeem themselves, but ffs...it's my money and I genuinely abhor liars / companies that lie/bull****.

I've been down the SP route- perhaps I'm not very forgiving, but never again.
Is your door repairable? I've just done mine with some standard box section and some cheap skins from eBay. I was careful to isolate the frame from the panel, and although it took a good few hours, at least I've avoided fitting yet more shoddy parts, as the quality of some of the pattern doors leaves a lot to be desired.

@Britcyclerider , I'm sure you're as forgiving as I am...but not when it comes to being ****ed around. Door is repairable but not worth faffing around with. It's more cost effective to buy, prep & paint a new door; job done. I'm going to hang the old door in the garage as a piece of objet d'art

Fair play. I don't cost my time for work for myself and hate fitting components that are worse than the original. At least the old door will live on :)
