Panzer,

Is that a replacement pipe or the original coated with something (I'm looking at the Southdown but want a black pipe like that).

Cheers

It's the original "unfinished" pipe (which is better surface for painting) sprayed with some aircraft black paint and baked in a oven for a few hours. So far is been great. Any black should do it, but a good baking will help it go a lot harder, especially with the cold temps at this time of year

Gotta be said ... that black pipe looks the bollocks, extremely nice ... ;)

I can't bring myself to spend over a ton on some plastic tubing and a couple of fancy mouldings, so I'm gonna have a go at making my own Southdown snorkel. Have bought the wing plate adaptor and the top intake on their own, got a 2.5 inch length of black plastic pipe to join the two together and then hopefully will be able to complete it with some flexi pipe through the inner wing to the airbox. Result should be a black snorkel that looks just as good as the £130 jobbies for significantly less!

Was what I thought ... but by the time you buy the bits, the Southdown unfinished one, which is stainless not plastic, worked out same(ish) cost, but came with brackets etc so no fiddling about, and the tube fitted properly ... and the adaptor bit for the airbox would make a huge difference, I think.

They do, however, send crap self-tappers, so figure in a few rivnuts and cap-headed socket screws ... ;)
