Hi

Does anyone know where I can get hold of the instrument panel warning light bulbs for the 1999 2.0 diesel model - they are quarter turn twist- in types?

Having had no ABS light at all since I bough the car I swapped the bulb with another one in the cluster and of course it is now on all the time. Before I go out and get a Hawkeye I want to replace all known dead bulbs (have no TC warning light either so I expect it is the same story).

Because of work commitments I thought I would get a garage to sort it out but after leaving it with them twice for a day at a time and the mechanic coming up with nothing (they said it might be connected to a leaking steering pump!!!!) I am resigned to tackling this myself!

I don't suppose anyone has a Hawkeye for sale do they???

Thanks

Gareth

Now the bad news.... They're LEDs soldered to the dash PCB, not bulbs. Best get the soldering iron and solder pump out....

No, they are not on mine - they twist out on a little bayonet. I think they were replaced in later models with the soldered ones.

Ah! Try Autobulbs direct. You want R284 (plain 2.3w) or R286 (coloured and plain available, 1.2w).

OK thanks for that lead, NoDosh. It could in fact be this as well:
501 W5W? Looks as though I need to be sure of the wattage, as well. Haynes doesnt help me there. Some more research before I order!

Thanks

Gareth

Hi

Now I am thinking R286 plain, 1.2 watt. I suppose I could order a mix just to be sure!

Thanks for you help

Gareth

W5W would certainly work as a means of telling you something is wrong. Granted, it would also blind you and probably fill the car with the faint smell of burning PCB.... ;)

Yes - I realised that when doing some google searches! I have orderd some 1.2 watt ones and will take things step by step. Roll on Saturday .......... I have an MOT (CT here in France) in a month's time so I need to crack this one with some haste.

Thanks again
