i want to completely sound proof my defender 90 200tdi hardtop including the rear "boot" space. is there any company which will carry this out in yorkshire?.

Yeah they are brilliant but it's expensive.

I was told by them the material they use is only available to them, I found their supplyer and found it for about 10% of the price they charge for it, its identical, self adhesive the lot.

I can't remember where I got it from, I emailed the link to myself from work when I found it so I will look through my emails and find it.

Hey - yes I did - I saved it to my fav's at work I will post it in the morn, reckon you could do the whole of a 90 for £100 with the same stuff as the 280 quid kits are made with, assuming you can use a stanley knife!

Is the Noisekiller stuff land rover fitted though? That might be why its so much more, i imagine its a bit tricky cutting and fitting it to things like underneath your bonnet or round your transmission tunnel.

I'm hoping I can get all the genuine plastic trim for the cab, cos I want the transmission, under the dash, bulkhead, seatbox everything covered up. But so far I haven't been able to find anything cheap (not the LaSelle stuff) to do the back properly in. I'd like a rubber load liner that sits in the back you can wash out easily and panels to fit the side of a van body but it looks like you've gotta make that kind of stuff yourself.

Sound Service Prices

Go down to 12mm thick foams - I have seen both products and its the same stuff, it even says on one of the descriptions "ideal for vehicles - bulkheads, engine bays etc..."

You can make towboards out of it stick it on to the bulkhead, both sides, put rubber in the footwells then this stuff, seal it all up, then lay a mat or carpet. Its all at the site.

One of them is self adhesive, the glue is really good, once you get it in place, you better hope it was in the right place.

Also the acoustic sealing tape is great for replacing the seals in your floor pans.

I have done most of my 90 in it so far, just need to sort the leak in the passenger side before I get the floor done - anyone solved it, I have HUGE puddles every morning it rains - I am not fussed about carpets but I want to put foam stuff down then stick a rubber mat over it, I can't dop this if its going to be swimming!

Remove heater box and check for holes.....thers a seam on mine that leaks like buggery, gonna be welding a plate on when its in the country

New bulkhead, and I seamsealed it and fibreglassed it so its not coming in from there. I have soundproofing on the bulkhead already and there are no issues with water there, it is just running off the door check latch, but I can never quite work out where it runs from, its not the hinge of window either because I have the window off for the bulkhead change and silicone and a new gasket was used on them, its got to be door related.

It doesn't help of course that the drain channel runs right down the seam!
