Quaddy. You need to join EMLRA the guys there will process the military number plate and try to find some history for it for £5. They dont always come up with info, but its probably your only source. You can put your chassis number through calVIN to find basic info on it, but mil. spec. stuff needs to go through EMLRA. Do you know what year SIII it is? Y plate would have been released around the same time as mine, so likely to be an early one. Looks like a standard GS.

Smiths heaters do come up on ebay from time to time. I think its the square ones you want. They go for a bit of money though.

Welcome to LZ chap :)

Thanks for the tip Griffdowg, will investigate EMLRA. Don't know what year it is yet, the paperwork's to follow.

the date of manufacture is unlikely to be on the V5 unless a Previous owner has looked into it. It will only show the date of registration. If you pop me your chassis number I can narrow it down through calvin. If its an early SIII it may be eligable for tax exeption status. for which you will need to apply to the motor heritage trust for a date confirmation certificate.

1 step at a time though :D

Do you think the previous owner would have applied for an age related plate then? that is the only way its registered date would be the same as the manufacture date.

yes.
The key things I spotted are the lights and the front badge, both easily swapped, but it doesn't look as if it was owned by someone too interested with cosmetics.
