Hi guys, new to here tonight. I've got a ?series III lightweight which I was given last week. It was rescued from a nettlebed on the North York Moors and is now running. Two questions please:

1. How do I go about finding out some history about it? It's on a Y plate and I've got the chassis number. Are there any sites where I can get the MoD details from?

2. Getting the canvas clean. It seems to be growing green lichen. Roundup or scrub with....??

All help appreciated.

Don't let the pictures confuse you, it wasn't in the nettlebed when we picked it up - pushed there by JCB with all wheels fully seized. You probably haven't seen it 'cos it hadn't left the farm it was on (or been started) for 6 or 7 years. We're just slightly further south than you, but I work in Redcar. Hope to be out and about soon!

looks a good start mate, whats it like inside / underneath? PICS ! still got the 2.25 petrol in ?

No pics yet, been very pleased so far with the whole vehicle. Chassis very good condition all the way to the rear cross member which will need replacing. Inside original seats, all electrics work except convoy light and heater (may need help with this - is a Smiths heater still available? Pipes up to windshield connect to nothing ). Still 2.25 petrol twin tanks 12V :D

My usual lift has broken down so I'll be picking my boss up on my R1 tomorrow if it's sunny, purple Fiesta if not

Yep, red and white Yam with green-faced pillion on board and maybe remains of sheep stuck to front tyre. Hence usual transport out of action.
