Ah right, I thought they were basically the same engine.Quite rare to have one of these jag units blow up..
Did it kick a rod out?
The 4.4 I wouldn't recommend as its internals are Cast the 4.2 is Forged and far stronger,
Usually the M62 boat anchor that ****s itself..
Same age as the one I sold...hope it's ok, the headlights buffed up real nice. Thanks all,
Turned crank shell has rendered it shat!!
Only the clients story but not yet varified. It's a 2006 l322 and I've not seen paper or physical form yet, only the clients rendition of what has happened.. Pinch of salt.
You may find a cheap Jaguar that has been pranged or something. Either the Super charged or the standard 4.2 version.
The SC doesn't have VVT whereas the normally aspirated version does. In which case, if he want's to go ahead, you'd need to swap his cams onto the "new" engine. A faff, but a doable one. It's all a great learning curve and a grand day out too
The 4.2's does have VVT.
better swap like for like, the 4.4 won't last..
The Super Charged doesn't have VVT because it makes little to no difference due to the extra 70bhp provided by the charger...
Quote from Wiki: "
Supercharged [edit]
The supercharged version of the AJ26 is used in the high-performance R versions of Jaguar's cars. The engine was updated with AJ27 specifications for 2000. It produces 370 hp (276 kW; 375 PS) and 387 lb⋅ft (525 N⋅m) with the help of an Eaton supercharger (modified Roots-blower). The supercharged engine did not use variable cam timing as the normal benefits of improved volumetric efficiency are not noticeable on a boosted engine."
