Second edition post because I put the first edition in the wrong section 🙄

I have recently purchased a freelander 1 xei. All was going so well..... until.... the solid orange engine light came on. We plugged her in to code read but it fails to connect, local garage also could not get her to connect. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can go from here? Or in the least where I can get a code reader that will work?

Thanks

Maybe an auto electrician is your best first stop.

They can probably diagnose/fix the ODB port before reading the codes.

To be completely honest, I have no idea!! I guess that would be the best place to start right??
Thank you for your reply
Yes. It has been known for the OBD2 port to suffer from pin spreading, which prevents the diagnostic device from connecting to the ECM.

what's an xei? I think that's a 1.8 K series? The early K series have a MEMS1.9 ECU and aren't EOBD compliant, but I don't know whether that applied to an xei.
It's MEMS 3 I think??? And I have no idea what a k series is.... I'm new round them there parts.
