**** SOLD ****
I have decided its time to sell my Disco 2 as I’m not really using it anymore. I only did 4,000 Miles last year in it, and its just sitting around. Its a Rioja Red Discovery 2 4.0L V8 auto with LPG, first registered in 1998 (So the pre face lift model). Its in Longwell Green, Bristol (BS30)
I purchased this in July 2009 at 104K miles on the clock, and had a professional LPG multipoint conversion fitted. This has put a 50L LPG tank in place of the Petrol one, and a smaller 20L petrol tank fitted in the wing (used to start the car, before the LPG kicks in). Later I removed the 7th rear seat and a had a second 50L tank fitted, giving a 100L LPG capacity. I do still have the 7th seat, but its at my parents house in Lancashire. Happy to include the seat as long as you can wait for it, or are happy to make other arrangements for its collection. Its on 174K Miles now.
It just passed its MOT on Monday, and that means it comes with an MOT that does not expire till 11 Dec 2016.
I want to be totally upfront and let you know whats wrong with it:
1. The ACE has a leak where the pipe joins into the block. So I have temporarily bypassed the ACE pump by fitting a TD5 belt instead of the V8 one. This means the AirCon pump is also bypassed. Once you decide to either fix the ACE or remove it the AirCon will be fine. I will be including a spare ACE block with the sale.
2. It is occasionally only firing on what feels like 7 cylinders.
3. There is a small leak from where the exhaust manifold meets the down pipe. There are 3 studs that hold the joint, and one has sheared. Its been like this ever since I purchased the car.
4. 2 of the tyres are close to the legal limit.
5. There is some corrosion on the rear chassis legs, and the brake pipe running over them. They passed this years MOT, but need an eye keeping on them.
6. The MOT also picked up some slight play in the steering. I have never noticed this myself.
7. As per standard on all Disco’s, then sun roof leaks and there is an oil leak.
OK so thats the faults dealt with, whats good about it :
It came with the air suspension removed as the pump had seized, I replaced this and put the bags back in. This is fully working, and I also purchased a remote PLIP for it so you can control it from outside the car. Useful for hitching to trailers. I will be including the springs I took off as well incase you ever want to swap it back.
I used to use it to tow 3.5T trailers for work, so it has the tow ball and electrics fitted. Since it was for work I also required a tachograph to be fitted. I mounted this under the front passenger seat (so its out of site). This was professionally calibrated as required. I’m not going to remove it, and if you don’t want to use the car commercially you can ignore it, otherwise its a bonus!
It has after market reversing sensors fitted.
It has 5 x Hurricane Alloy Wheels, (of which the 4 road wheels include locking wheel nuts).
Front and Rear Fogs, electric folding mirrors, heated front screen, electric windows, 2 keys / fobs and the suspension remote.
No major dents, but does have a small crease in the passenger door (which it came with - looks like the door opened too far). It does have some scratches, but again nothing major.
I’ll be including a set of after market roof bars / rack. Also I should have the original Landrover Roof bars that fit between the rails in the garage (somewhere..) I’ll include those assuming I can find them!
It used to have side running steps on it, but last year one of the supporting arms corroded off it. So I took them both off. They will be included if you want to weld the arm back on and refit them.
I have an original Nanocom diagnostic tool, and the buyer will get first refusal on purchasing this for £200 before I put it on ebay. This has proved very useful (and saved me a lot of money) when changing ABS sensors etc.
I have done an oil and filter change every 6000 miles since owning the car. I have also done full fluid changes on all the other oils and fluids in the car since owning it. I have replaced many parts overt the last 5 years, including both lambda sensors, magnacore leads, coil pack, spark plugs, fixed the ABS block electrics, several ABS wheel sensors. I have always used OEM parts for any work I have done.
I’ll be including any spares I have in the garage with the sale as well. Already mentioned the ACE block, and Springs above, but I have some switches and various other bits as well.
I’ll take some pictures at the weekend (when I have time and its light). In the mean time if you have any questions please ask.
I’m looking for £1,000 cash.
