Well said lets get back to the nice things about owning a land rover, like the fact it rips my pants every time I dismount.
Here's the picture I posted. Can you see it now?

I've tracked the past 4 owners, and don't intend to stop there I'm pretty certain it's not stolen. Anyone have any ideas of what's stamped on the front diff? I was under the truck the other day having a look and found what seems to be a G which also gave me some hope as mine is a G reg.I see the busted belt loop as a badge of honour.......!! Managed to rip TWO on current 'best' jeans ....grrrrrrrrrrr.....
Glad story is looking slightly better OP - the list of actual jobs to fix seems very do-able, and chassis number is looking more hopeful, just hope you get rid of any lingering doubts. Tracking the two previous owners gives a much warmer feeling imo. Cheers, A
I did think the same, perhaps just a coincidence. Still haven't had a chance to have a proper look for the chassis number. I work till late evening & live on a narrow road with no parking, so it usually has to wait till the weekend.TBH, I would be surprised if they stamped a vehicle with a number that is only valid in the UK. like a reg number prefix. Got a picture?
Did you ever check the chassis number?
Also the number for the axles are the serial numbers if you ever need spares and need to verify what you have to make like easier.
Cheers
I'm surprised people still call their children Tom, Dick or Harry. It's asking for trouble. Hasn't history taught them anything?yeah so any tom dick or harry could nik a lanny and ring it ...
haha you're not wrong! If you spent more time FIXIN than LOOKIN you would have it Fixed in a week !
