NOW SOLD
Hi all,
Been a long while since posting anything useful on landyzone having turned into a lurker over the years.
But after enjoying the last (nearing) 7 years with my D1 as my daily driver, it's time to part ways with the old brick sadly as I need a mortgage, and hopefully a forum member would like to make for a lower aggro sale.
213k miles and growing, manual 300tdi, Niagara grey, electric windows windows no A/C, non airbag, no ABS
MOT to 30th of August.
Start vid:
I'm looking for around £2500 depending on final agreement of what mods it keeps
Located near Winchester, SO24
Given it a quick squirt and brush out in these limitedphotos:
There is incredibly detailed service history back to when I purchased the brick in 2017. I've meticulously fixed and overhauled everything necessary to make it a dependable daily, kept at least 85%of the invoices and written everything significant down.
Prior to me I've got no other history from the last owners.
The good:
Runs and drives well, handles as well as an old landy can, with no knackered bushes and fairly new dampers front and new at rear. Stops, shifts gears, starts etc without issue, no electrical gremlins.
Engine makes good compression and has good oil pressure, no serious problems as most of the rotboxes on ebay have once scrutinized.
7 years of spares hoarded for it in the shed, fluids droplinks, vac pump, spare fuel pump, fan, light lenses, etc etc etc...
Painted the underside every year after new welding work, no waxoil or tar substances
Will perform oil service with air and fuel filter on sale
The neutral:
Tyres have years of life left in them for the road (Toyo AT opencountry), but are at mid life for mud work
Glowplug controller doesnt work, but I used the disco 5 years thinking the plugs worked fine before finding they did not and never had, starts on the second crank without hence not fixing them, takes more like 5 cranks once you near -10c.
Front brake pads rattle slightly, symptom of the reconditioned front calipers having much sloppier tolerance than new castings, only audible maneuvering slowly with the windows down near a wall
Towbar came off for welding last year, not put it back on – but it is freshly painted and has all new hardware for reassembly
Engine, steering box and transfer case all weep oil very slowly(don't need top ups between services-slow)
Sunroof sealed up as it used to leak, probably knackered seal, or clogged / rotten gutters, never looked. Worked fine before this.
The crossmember that mounts the A frame suspension arm is a bit crusty, will need attention in the next 3 or 4 years
The bad:
The paintwork is tired and scabby: at least 2 or 3 touchups on most panels, bonnet and roof have fairly chronic laquer fading & peeling, and a lower third respray to sort out some corrosion in thedoors previously has never been cut & polished (no peel, runs, curtains or overspray though), and is not blended in around the arches (it was going to get new plastic trim overarches, but could never find them at a sane price in the end), and a light dent on the N/S front wing.
The interior is missing front carpet, is marked in several places and wears its years as it has been used for work, a lot. Some oilstains in rear bench, but cloth seats are rip free.
The front windscreen leaked in heavy rain and has been temporarily siliconed, this is a windscreenout, moderate patch in roof above driver (rot), and a new seal to fix permanently.
At a glance the servicing in my ownership includes:
Price negotiable depending on what you want to come still attached – such as the diesel heater or tracker. Or if you want the hoard of spares
Buyer needs to be willing to provide I.D that matches bank account details if paying via transfer, and insurance docs if you want to do the test drive.
Edit: I have found one of the third row seats + seatbelt in the shed, if buyer was interested
Cheers

The front windscreen leaked in heavy rain and has been temporarily siliconed, this is a windscreenout, moderate patch in roof above driver (rot), and a new seal to fix permanently.

- Excessive number of oil changes mostly due to me forgetting when it was actually due and doing it too early.
- Welding: Inner and outer cills, front and rear wheel arch repairs (2 new rear), various sections in the bottom of the bulkhead, all body mounts replaced, new rear boot floor + patches in surrounding area where needed, new floor sections in places to bridge inner cill replacements, rear spring mount repairs, some small sections on rear of chassis, and a few patches in places. Lots done in the first 2 years, but generally try and clear up growing problems every year so the rest of the welding has been spread over my time with her. Quite a bit of photo evidence of the process in service history.
- Modifications:
- Custom front bumper I got off some bloke as the old one was rotten, see pics
- All steel rear bumper (oem size / shape) off another bloke, as you guessed it, original was rotten
- Upgraded to D2 front lamps (project better beam pattern)

- Both third row seats removed to accommodate storage and new amp / mini subs that have been taken off of the rear door.
- Boot door refitted to store tools and such
- Slight adjustment to FIP to wake her up a bit (less preload on boost compensator), but no adjustment to injection duration(smoke screw), no boost pin / or ring, all standard. Doesnt smoke
- Few degrees static injection timing advance
- Low coolant alarm
Dab Radio with aux and USB input
Price negotiable depending on what you want to come still attached – such as the diesel heater or tracker. Or if you want the hoard of spares
Buyer needs to be willing to provide I.D that matches bank account details if paying via transfer, and insurance docs if you want to do the test drive.
