Having a mare with the breaks on D2 td5.

Started when I put on new rear callipers, discs and flexible hoses, pedal goes to the floor with engine off and on. There is servo assistance and pressure can be pumped up with 2-3 pumps.

I thought it was the master cylinder as it felt like loosing pressure, I also noticed that the breaks won't hold the vehicle on a hill with the engine off.

I changed the master with no improvement, the front discs were glazed so I changed them and the pads,and reconditioned the pistons in the front callipers and replaced both the rigid and flexible front break lines...still the same soft pedal.

I have power bleed all wheels multiple times, I have also bled the 6 ports on the abs module. I have also left it in to a garage where they ran the testbook bleed cycle twice....still the same soft pedal.

I can't see that there are any leaks, or that there could still be air in the system,...

Anybody any ideas?

you might need to adjust servo to m/c rod if its to short you get a lot of pedal travel ,too long brakes will pull themselves on ,you need to hold rod with pliers carefully so you dont pull star clip holding it secure out
 
Check the sliders on the calipers, if they are not sliding properly this can cause issues.
 
Checked all those things.. nipples up etc... I haven't adjusted the nut on the rod from the servo yet (jamesmartin) is it a case of trial and error or is there a way of checking adjustment? Cheers
 
its quite possible you have a faulty flexi hose ? check over the rear axle above the diff . this can collapse inside making it difficult to bleed the system properly .
It can also cause the rear brakes to bind on , thats a first tell tale sign
 
So what did you do, to fix them? It might help others, including me :eek::D:D

Hi I'm having the same problem checked over everything ,bleed several times but still end up with soft pedal and have to pump it to get any thing.I have changed the master cylinder so after reading this I'm going to try the master cylinder adjustment as I guess that is what matey done in the end to sort this problem out.
Does anybody know more about the master cylinder adjustment any help appreciated
