It's just occurred to me that in my quest to get a Disco I'm probably going to have to get some new sockets and spanners as all mine are metric. What sizes will I need?

It's also occurred to me that I could end up spending more on tools than on the Disco itself. Oh well.

C'est la vie :)

Not sure if there are any imperial bolts on a disco.
I bet guru has answered in the time it took me to post this.

Ahh that's not so bad then looks like I'm covered, dunno why I thought they would be imperial.

If you're taking brake callipers off, a 1/2" AF socket is a better, tighter fit on the bolts than a 13mm metric one. If you're going to be taking the propshafts off a lot (and let's face it, we all get to that stage eventually) it might be worth getting one of those long thin propshaft sockets, which speeds the job up no end.

You'll also find that a set of Torx sockets will be useful. You won't need a complete set, you can get just the sockets to go with what you already have; 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 inch square drive. You can find them at reasonable prices on fleabay.

Good set of 'bolt-grips', brake-pipe spanner, a big tub of copper grease and a brush and some penetrating fluids ...

What about E-Torx? I've spotted some of those in the brake threads, what size are they and are there any more different sizes?

I'm not a fan of big socket sets, too much rubbish in them that you never use, I'd rather get good quality 6 points in the sizes I need

Currently I work on RX8s and you can take the whole car apart with about 4 sizes, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm and 17mm with a couple of larger sizes and a T-55 for drain plugs.
