Following on from a previous thread, I knew I had a blow from the exhaust manifold, with the heat shield in place it felt as though it was coming from the joint below the cat. after removing the shroud everything looked ok, but on removing the manifold the problem became only to clear.... On removal the cat was only joined to by a couple of inches of weld. It's quite clear from looking at the failed joint that it has been failing for some time....
