I don't........just spent 600 odd for new discs, callipers mud shields, all power steering hoses UJ's and about to also spend my Christmas break on my cold drive fitting it all..........

I don't, but it was the only cheap 4 x 4 that offered long distance comfort. It has proved very cheap to run over 5 years.
 
I have many times regaled you all of my journey from a 6 year old boy standing in front of my first ever Land Rover (an SAS Pink Panther at a muesum in York) and being smitten by it, then the neighbour who bought a brand new Range Rover (Classic) in 1988 (I was 10) and being bowled over by it.....AND it was a Land Rover product...I have been a massive geek-fueled fan ever since!

Just love 'em....no rhyme nor reason....just do!

bought mine on a whim after looking at a lot of x5s. solid chassis reasonable body work good strong engine a fair few common niggles sorted a few left todo. grin from one side of my face to the other everytime i drive it.

Do you know what, it really wasn't that bad at all and everything worked out ok no seized bolts or whatever and I was able to do a bit of cable hose tidying whilst I was down there.

Didn't quite get the prop shaft off tho' as I ran out of light......

Would've preferred to do other things on Boxing day but I am trying to get it finished for a new years party down in Cornwall and I don't fancy taking the other car (C2 993 911) in case it snows

If you don't get it finished in time Ash you're welcome to borrow my backup hack a Honda CR-V, it's sitting taxed, mot'd, insured and unloved in a field in Stansted Abbots.
 
The main expenses on mine is filling it with diesel and I do 20000 miles usually in obscure parts of the world then lay it up for three months while im in Australia and planning new destinations.

Which reaffirms my opinion of the p38 - it's a finicky but basically robust vehicle - I believe the later Range Rovers just kept the finicky attribute.
 
Purely because ever time I drive it or look at it it just puts a huge smile on my face love em
 
There's a lot to be said for the P38 being the last truly Land Rover derived Range Rover.
Yes, the electronics were a probably an uncomfortable leap for LR at the time but as steve says, at least it is turning out to be the most robust of the RR family. BMW, Jag & time will tell with TATA but they seem intent on over complicating.

Had mine for 8 years now. Very little trouble to date, which surprises me because the build quality doesn't seem that good.

I wish the load area was as good as my old Volvo 240 estate.
