I have been looking towards fitting a snorkle to my Disco.

As i'm on quite a tight budget i was wondering if their was any home brewed versions people had made (a shopping list and guide of how they went about it) or is it just worth biting the bullet and getting a full "shop" kit

I had a search around but couldnt find anything for the 200TDI.

Or if anyone has a second hand item that they would be willing to sell.

you could try these and buy it one piece at a time to spread the cost out abit Southdown 4x4 Clearance Items but they ain't that expensive to buy as a kit to be honest

make one out of drainpipe, dont look as good but will only cost ya £20

I picked up second hand the top half of a metal Mantec one for a Discovery and made up the rest inside the wing with drain pipe and silicon sealer.

Cutting the hole in the outer wing 'skin' was a couple of hours with a hacksaw and round file. File, test fit, file, test fit and so on

Thanks for the replies guys, will be scouring ebay and the for sale ad's.

Got a few other things to sort out first and then i will be on to the Snorkle mini project.

Morning Greg.......i like you are on a tight budget (with many others) and i wanted a snorkle, and on looking around i found them to be expencive (even on ebay) I have seen a 'home made' one and i thought it looked a right mess, but the young guy who had done it thought it looked great. It looked like a pice of pipe from an old clothes drier with a K&N air filter stuck on top. I dont think it would do the jod it was intended to do. I didnt have the hart to tell him what i really thought, so i told him it looked great (he liked it, thats what counts) LOL. Anyway i have just got one, in my local town and paid 40 quid, and it's a safari snorkle. It's like brand new. So dont go making a mess of your disco.......hold out, and one will come along.

most "pick up only" people dont mind if you organise a courier to pick it up....and at these prices Im tempted for the ruff 'n' reddy one

have you tried the breakers in canterbury
they have a large selection of second hand parts
i was after new interior for mine and spoke to the guy there and he his more thathelp full and resonable priced,in off shopping there at the end of the month
