Hi All,

I've gone to have my windscreen repaired and my snorkel is blocking it. This was put on ages ago by the garage and I'm coming to remove it and wondered if this is a 'quick job' or if I will need to remove the wing. It's a replica of the safari snorkel and consequently I was keen to get advice from those that have done it themselves.

I removed mine when I had my D2 when the screen was replaced as they needed to take the putter A pillar cover off to remove/refit screen.

If it has been fitted 'correctly' it will have been silicone/mastic sealed where the snorkel goes through the wing and into the air duct it meets the other side (can be a pain to remove if this has been done, you'll have to cut away at the silicone and re-seal when you fit.
Remove the nuts on the inside of the wing and it should pull away from the wing. Be Careful not to bend the wing as it's only ally. Don't forget to remove bracket from A pillar.

Is the windscreen fitting on a D2 different from the D1?
I've had two new screens (bonded type) fitted to my D1 in 7 years of ownership, it has a Safari Snorkel and it has never got in the way of a refit.

My snorkel of the same type needed of a push to meet up to the A pillar. So if you remove a A pillar bracket there may be a little flex to get the windscreen a pillar trim off without removing the snorkel completely

I'll give it a try cheers :)

Yeah managed to get some wiggle room, hopefully the windscreen company will work with that.
