Finally got around to connecting my snorkel up. Can anyone identify what these two lugs with threads are and what they’re for?

Thanks

Those are the connections for extended axle breather.

I screwed push fit connectors into mine then extended my axle breathers to them,

Will take a photo later

And heater intake is extended forward and taken from a hole cut it the wing up near the headlight, using a series 3 grille and mount and a length of tube.

The original plastic heater intake goes in the bin

This all sounds great flat. Looking forward to the photos, in particular the push fit connections and breathers.
I had the idea of using an oven hood filter over the blower to save extending and firxing a new vent, I realise this may sound a bit odd.

I originally just let the heater draw air from under the bonnet, but when at low speeds/traffic or off roading it eventually draws fumey air into the cab.

I extended the hose for the heater intake to behind the headlight and that was much much better. It was only wen I needed a new wing after a laning dent and it was in bits that I cut the hole for the air to be drawn in from outside.

A hose to the headlight work well. Get on long enough and you can bend the end down right behind the headlight panel and it draws in pretty much fresh air from the wheel well

Here you are - think the photo are self explanatory. I put the axle breather into a 2-1 manifold and that then went to one fitting on the snorkel, I then did the same for the timing chest and gearbox breathers

The vent is the new heater intake, and the black corrugated pipe is the diving from the grille to the heater - I did originally have this loose down behind the headlight, and that worked fine

Any more info just let me know

Ed

That’s Great flat thanks.
Where did you get the 2 into 1 manifolds and the Push fit connecters from?
I appear to have the exact same snorkel as yours so it’s a great reference.

Gwynn Lewis 4x4 on eBay

Just bung in ‘defender breather kit’ and ‘3 way push fit manifold’ or similar.

The snorkel has threaded bits on those 2 attachments - I unthreaded mine and the new push fit connectors just threaded straight in, same thread.

Thanks Flat.
Did the two push fit connections into the two lugs on the base of the snorkel come with that kit?
I showed Gwynn Lewis the photo but they don’t recognise it as such. I’m guessing you just bought a kit from them and used what you needed?
Thanks

Yep I think I brought their timing chest kit and then the rest of the bits seperate, I can’t remember the thread but it’s fairly standard.

6mm pushfit connectors is what you want

I might still have the packaging in my spares box in the garage - will look tomorrow after work, and I might have some spares I can send you

Ah mate that sounds perfect. Cheers

@14platoon

I didn’t get a chance to look the other day and am working now until the weekend, will have a look for you Saturday is that’s okay?
