a td is indirect injection they do need more heat from glow plugs and heat warming the cylinder and hot spot to run cleanif my battery was worn there is no way my TD would have started .
had to turn it so long in the cold I'm surprised the starter switch didnt burn out - hence the whole street getting smoked up.
It was also a tractor battery the size of the entire under seat area - i suspect the previous owner knew the engine was banjo
