Hi all

I have a 2004 Range Rover Vogue TD6 L322. I arrived home today and got out of the vehicle there was a strange acrid smell and some smoke was seen coming out from under the car. I looked underneath the vehicle and I saw a pipe on the passenger side that was emitting smoke. It was a bluey colour smoke and I took a photograph which I will try to attach. Does anybody know what this might be and what I need to do about it? I have parked up the vehicle so as not to cause any further problems.

Thanks
Steve

Done that. Phew.

I am gonna get my mechanic on the case as I am sure it is out of my league. Just wondered what he needs to work through? I have tried to read up on the fbh but I don't really understand what would be causing it to smoke and therefore what we need to do.

Is it on a timer? I guess you should read the owners manual. ;):)

It's not on a timer. This happened after driving for about 20 minutes.
I will look in the manual but I didn't even know I had a fbh until about an hour ago, thanks to Saint.V8, so I wouldn't have known what to look for in the manual.

I assume that the vehicle shouldn't be driven?

If the FBH hasn't been used for a while, they do tend to smoke!

If you have to tell your garage/mechanic what to do or look for - I would look for a new mechanic/garage!

Perhaps I don't have to Saint.V8 but I just like to be naturally helpful if I can. :) Also, I like to try to understand what is happening even if it's not me that fixes it.

Good point MyFirstL322 maybe I can disconnect if it is nice to have.

Is there a wire you can pull off?
Keep it clean, if you didn't know you had a fuel burning heater how do you know its not on a timer? Do you have an extra remote fob to switch it on / off. The idea is to use it to heat the car before you use it in cold weather. Like a HGV night heater.

I have one remote with no extra buttons. Reading elsewhere i saw that I would have had some way to turn it on. I didn't so I guessed I don't have one. Does that sound right? It is an early td6,don't know if that is relevant?
