Hi. Freelander 1 TD4 2005. When I parked up today, after shortish run, smoke (or steam?) came out from the front near side wheel. Stopped before I could see where it came from. Any ideas where to start, please?

It is the fuel burning heater.
Comes on at 5 degrees C.

Helps warm up engine and interior heater.

Pull fuse 5 in engine bay if you don't want it on.

It gets me each year when the temp drops… I suddenly see smoke, panic for 2 seconds, then remember the FBH!

Yes lots of FL1 and the R40 CDTi gang get caught out when the temp drops to 5c or below, some have had people come up to them and say your car is smoking from under the car
