Dear all I just got my 2000 D2 Td5 (400000 kms) back from the mechanic. He explain me that the injectors where wrong adjusted and I change the fuel filter base. Now I have the following sintoms:

1. The fuel pump doesn´t stop working and making noise, I assume there is an “open” somewhere.

2. When I start the engine (750 RPM), the is some extra smoke, I mean I can see it when the wind comes from the back of the LR. My LR used to be a no smoke LR. There is no lack of power and when a pus the LR uphill there is no smoke.

Well that´s it

Waiting for support

pump might have air in system or blockage in its filter inside pump case ,pump should run all the time with engine running but normally not so noisy you can hear it,what kind of smoke black

Thanks a lot, I have the feeling that both problems are related, I have more symptoms:
1. There is no lack of power.
2. There is gray smoke at idle (750 RPM).
3. The gas/diesel consumption increase.

I send the LR to the mechanich because it mekes 400000 kms and he adjust the injector, my feeling was the 1st day was OK, then something got unadjusted, os some sensor got wrong, what about the MAF I have blocked the the EGR

Have you had the injector seals replaced? - and if you have did you use genuine L.R. seals?
I had mine done with cheap parts and they only lasted 1000 miles!

Could be an option.

Yesturday I spent 5 hr at the mechanist, he asses it is some problem with the injectors, there is some leaking (some cracking at the start a and white smoke at low rev´s).

Next step will be to check the adjustment of each of them.

HAWKEYE, doesen´t show any specific related fault.

Does someone can hel me diagnostic/adjusting the injectors?

the only adjustment you can make to the injectors is to check the coding on each injector matches the stored values in the ecu, this is done through inputting the codes on each injector into your ecu through your hawkeye, but it only alters the injector balance and doesnt cause the problems your having

Is your oil level increasing in the sump because it sounds to me like injector seals . This would cause the pump noise , extra fuel cumsumption and smoke. Plus I wouldn't trust what your mecanic is saying if he is telling you your injectors need adjusting or have been adjusted. The only adjustment is the ecu fueling program and injector codes.

Mmm, sound like the injector sealing, I´ll get some seal and o-ring change them out and tell you back, thanks

Ok, a resume about the symtoms and disagnostic:

1. There is a lot of white smoke, specially at 750 rpm, speed 0 kms/hr.
2. There is no starting problem.
3. When the LR is at speed slow or fast, there is no extra smoke, not even w/ or w/o turbo.
4. A friend talme that the smoke smell like "unburned" diesel.
5. Oil level still the same.
6. No lack of power.
7. To check if there was a faulty injector, yesterday we start the LR in 4 cylinder, 5 time, no difference between each time.
8. Last but not least, my friend "the good mechanic", told me the craking sound at start, was an injector sound (too much diesel).

I already change the seals and washer, not LT, then may got faulty. I`ll get LR and see what´s happen.

Other topic, is that the fuel pump still soul a lot, not normal, could someone send my a picture or diagram on how they go?

Thanks

if you have a hawkeye you can check the cylinder balance which can help pinpoint a faulty injecor

so is motor cold or upto operation temperature? 750 rpm is idle speed, mine does that on cold start up very common for a diesel, unburnt fuel, white smoke on cold start

1. Yes 750 rpm is idle speed.

2. Smoky engine is on cold and hot engine.

3. The injector ruggeness on the hawkeye is in parameter from 0 to +/-8.

My hypothesis is the o-ring, the only concern is, are the symptos right, anyway it is a cheap spare part.

Thanks to all

Please don´t forget to mail jfamor@gmail.com the diagrams on the conection of the fuel filter.

Thanks

As you can imaginized, situation and symptoms change, I just make a 1200 motorway trip, initially with smoke on idle speed. But after a full the diesel tank no smoke, now there is some smoke and little bit log start (I assume luck of diesel), after that everything normal. I´m pretty sure there is something wrong on the circuit like, Is someone able to send me drawing of the connection on the fuel filter??

Thanks
