Hi all took my new "to me" Freelander 2 in today for its big 10 year/150k mile service.
Had all filters and oils replaced including Haldex, PTU and gearbox oil etc.

The specialist gave the car a thorough inspection and was very impressed with the condition and gave it a clean bill of health.

He did however notice a small Oil leak it's listed on the invoice "Small Oil leak" Rocker Cover/EGR area.

Just wondering if this is likely to be serious if left alone of course, and what are the common problem areas around that location for small leaks etc.

Thanks for your time guys

Was this noted before service or after. Could be a pressure resistance to new oils and filters.

Before the service he noticed it, it's very minor but he said to figure out where it's coming from he'd need to clean off all residue and monitor it over a short period.
Just wondered what are the main causes of oil leaks in that area, EGR, Rocker Cover, I know chasing down these tiny leaks can be a bit of a waste of time, just thought I'd try my luck and see if anyone can help with that

Can be the rocker cover seal perished, so when cold the seal not fitting correctly.
Egr can build up carbon residue as this recycling of exhaust gas. If you can get a piece of white paper, and with your finger rub a residue of the oil leak.
This will soak the paper quick with old oils as viscosity is less. Also gritty from burning. Fresh oil will clearer and still resistant to the paper.

Hi Matt.
See if you can take a photo and pop, it on here so we know whereabouts you are talking about. is it anywhere near this photo area below.

Thanks for that mate, I'm not 100% sure where it is myself the mechanic noticed it before the service but it could be this area you've shown.

I'll take a look under the bonnet after work and see if I can see any residue in that area, he mentioned EGR or possible Rocker Cover but if its just a case of a simple Jubilee clip I'll be very happy lol.

Thanks again for your help and I'll let you know

A slight leak from the joint shown above does appear to come from the EGR (which doesn't have any oil in it to leak) but oil dripping from above makes it look to be leaking and the cam cover seldom leaks in my experience.
