do you mean the ignition barrel illumination? i dont know i just wondered what you meant...........sorry!

Hmmm, sorry if I didn't make that clear. Yes, it's the bulb for the ignition illumination I was referring to.

Cheers!

Have you had the steering column surround off??

Ive never had this problem but if I was going to try and fix it the first thing I would do is have that off and then try and follow any wiring to the ignition barrel.

From reading your previous posts you have a 2001 P38?? Looking at the ETM there will be two wires going to the lamp, one is Red and the other will be Purple and Red. Have a look for those wires with the column surround off.

Hey Wills,

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I had the shroud off ... and there's *lots* of wires going to and fro! I'll have another go and look out for the ones you suggested.

Cheers,
John.

It's at the 5 o'clock position as you're looking at the ignition switch, just pull the wires and the connector comes out bulb and all. The other connectors are for the ignition key sensor.

Hi Lanmjdun,

Smooth!! Thanks for that ... I'm off to rip the shroud off again and do the business. But enough of my sexual fantasies ....

:D

Hi,

Job's a good 'un. Bulb replaced and working AOK. The old one was burnt black!! It was made a tad easier when my wife pointed out that the steering wheel adjusts towards you as well as up and down.

I hate it when she's right!!

Thanks for the pointers!

Cheers,
Ripface.
