Does anyone else have any experience with their media system being unacceptably slow?

So as an example there is a 1 second delay in between pressing a letter of a postcode and the keyboard becoming available to type in the next digit.

My father in law has a 2011 TDV6 with a slightly older system and is lightening fast by comparison. I videoed both.

I've had my car at Harwoods in Coulsdon Surrey and they have told me there is nothing technically broken with it but acknowledge that some of the cars they have in stock are slower.

I should add, they also said that they observed the unit was worse when it was slower. So now I have a range rover that apparently doesn't like the cold.

Any ideas anyone??. I can't believe a 60k + car can be this bad.

Thanks all

David

Hi david, what you have to remember is that they can be a delay as the system deals with all the information that you input and what it is computing in it memory etc. These vehicles have very complex electronics which the general public dont seem to understand. Some general public will understand the complexity of them and some people dont.

If you main dealer have looked at it and have agreed it is slower than usual and it isnt technically broken then there isnt really anything that can be done. All I can suggest is aslong as there are no dtc in that system then it is ok, did they check to see if there are any technical bulletins with software downloads etc for them I know most of there vehicle do have software download patches for certain models worth getting them to check.

If you are mechnically minded and can remove the battery cable terminals and bridge the positive and negative cables together for 30seconds then I would suggest you do this. It is know by landrover as a hard battery reset and clears adaptive memory from the modules this usually and can cause certain hiccups in the module networks etc. Its worth a try to see if it cures it.

If you feel you are up to this then drop me a pm and il tell you exactly how to do it.
