My automatic gearbox has started to get lazy of late.

When I put it in drive it wont change out of first until the gearbox is warm unless I do about 5000rpm, which I don't because I don't want to blow up a cold engine.

When it does change up for the first time, it does it with a jolt as if something has been seized and is eventually flung free.

Even if I try to select 2nd or 3rd manually it wont come out of first.

Once it's warmed up it's fine.

I've checked the oil level and it's fine.

Any ideas?

Has no one had or heard of this problem before?

I have. Sometimes you can get away with changing the filter and putting fresh oil in. If I remember correctly, you'll need to remove the front crossmember to get the gearbox sump off, which is a bit of a pain in the arse, but it's got to be worth a try. HTH.
