Hi Folk's.

Got slipped liners and steam cleaning on 3 & 5 cylinders - 4.6 HSE. Done the research and can't understand why the head gasket fire ring sits outside of the liner.!?!? Can someone enlighten me please.?

Goin to attempt to withdraw the shifted liners, clean-up then reseat with Loctite 620 and see about fabricating a bespoke copper head-gasket with 94mm fire rings.

Am I wasting my time.? Only want another 25K miles and then I'll retire her gracefully. Can't justify a full 'Tophat rebuild', but 'I do luv me mota'.

Ta much - Salmo.

liners only slip if fitted wrong or block has cracked liners sit down onto ledge and are fitted or should be with 3-4 thou interferrance fit iirc ,not a job you can do at home
