FFS. Have you actually looked underneath a Freelander and a Defender? The two vehicles are completely different, and share nothing in common, except they have wheels in the corners.

The FL1 has fully independent suspension with struts and wishbones, but the Defender has solid axles like cars from 1900, so no you can't fit Defender axles on a Freelander.

Yes, that is perfectly acceptable.

The roof rails are more than capable of carrying them.
