You need to drop a Viagra in the Fiat 500 fuel tank and turn it into a 500X, then bin the LR stuff:rolleyes:

First job on any vehicle with a belt driven cam is fit a new belt, you never know when it was last done and whether a quality belt was used.

Is that the brassy coloured thing that sits inside the follower?

it sits on top of roller follower ,it usually gets a damaged seat ,roller can wear flats ,but the guide those slide in can wear letting the followers stick, valves run very close to piston crown, it doesnt take much to allow them to contact

if the timing belt has slipped due to iffy tensioner or just worn....then it can knock out the cam timing which can cause piston and valve to meet....;);)

Have ordered new rod, new followers and brass thingies, timing belt, tensioner, front gasket, water pump gasket, crank oil seal.....

So will strip the top end down and take the head off while I await delivery, fit the new guides and seals and then fit new followers, do the timing belt and tensioner etc and see what happens.

easy job to do ant tbh, bolts snap/seize on timing cover around waterpump area so beware
