I think I might try the £1500 offer, cash on the table, short skirt, cleavage on display and flutter my eyelids. I have got a single insurance quote just to give me an idea and for me at age 30 with 4 years no claims, fully comp it is going to be about £300 a year, does that sound reasonable?
Am I right in thinking that I should budget about £200 a year for car tax or is it significantly more than my Freelander. I also read somewhere on here about it costing £100 to fill one up with fuel, surely not?
 
Get in touch with alocal independent service centre and see if they have anything for sale or available via their network of contacts or customers. That way if anything goes wrong you know where to turn and also, most a keen to keep their reputation amongst Landrover owners. Mine is HBH Landrover in Caerphilly and you will probably be able to find others in South Wales via Google
 
Riscadisco, I am in Caerphilly too and was planning to use HBH, I have checked their website and there isnt anything in the for sale section but I might do as you have suggested and call in to see them to see if they can recommend any for sale anywhere.
 
Ask for Huw - or maybe his missus who I understand works in the family business - I don't think that the website is kept up to date.

actually its funny you should say that as some of them are quite good artists. but they tend to draw the whole field and not just the straw. they also do some fine seascapes

89 ltr tank, £1.12 or whatever it is near you per litre, you do the maths.
 
I've had a TD5 for 7 weeks and I've had to repair 4 things and am about to start on my 5th which is a starter solenoid issue.

I know a little bit about cars, have a few tools and not afraid to have a go. I have been mega frustratred with this car but have enjoyed working on it pretty much, although farting around with cars outside in the cold and dark isn't recommended. If I had to leave it in some where to get my stuff done my heart (and wallet) would be well and truly broke by now.

I've also just changed out the gear box oil in an effort to make the changes chick friendly for the wife.

Must haves for Disco owners.

1. Overalls
2. Haynes Manual (inc RAVE for TD5)
3. Box of disposable gloves (100 pairs!)
4. An ebay account for all the parts you will need to buy.

On the Haynes manual, the ones for my last cars which are years old and are both like new. (Renault Scenic and Rover 600). The Disco manual is filthy in alot of places already.

Plus points. A cheap 4x4. What else can you get for 1500 quid? A old petrol Frontera maybe?

There so many about that parts are plentiful and cheap. Loads of advice on the Forums.

If you get one that is ok and it doesn't work out for you, you should be able to sell it handy enough and get your money back.

If my sister told me she was going to buy a Disco I'm afraid I'd have to talk her out of it.
