ok lets open it up a bit then.
there is nothing wrong with my td5, and a change is a want rather than a need.
pros and cons ??

No.

Take any 4 parts from your D2, get prices to replace them and then get the same quotes for the same parts for the D3. I bet they,ll be different !.

And even if the part prices are the same, I bet you wont have a cat in hells chance of changing them. You,ll do well to 25 to the gallon aswell.

Yes.

The D3 is a far nicer thing to be in than the D2 and you can get a lot of car for your money.

Mate's got a D3 43k clutch just went & flywheel cost him 1k to get it sorted. & the propshaft snapped on his way home from the garage.??

D3's are a lovely drive WHEN they work.:(

TD5 all the way:)

Use the money you would have spent on a D3 to buy another TD5 as a spare.;)

Assuming the mileage on the D3 aint starship, then if you've found some numpty willing to do the swap, we say go for it.

Yes, my mates got a D3 HSE auto 5 years old, no problems besides recalls during warranty and ive driven it loads and can easily get over 30 MPG. And for towing it's excellent.
