Hi the big bar that runs accross the front of my defender under the bumper and is 2" or so accross. is this the standard steering guard? and if so i take it i need to remove it to fit an aftermarket one? :doh:

no it acts the same way as when you get a puncture you just put the spare wheel on top of the old one

and yes it is

Thanks for that. i take it that it wont do any harm if its missing then as someone helped me out today when i left my lights on (flat bat) and we mannaged to pull the standard one off :mil90: . im going to order a new one tonight but i wanted to make sure that i get the wright part.

Well i have just ordered a hd 3 pice steel steering guard from paddocks £85.00 all in which i think is good. i think it must be better to upgrade insted of fitting a seconed hand standard part.

Providing you can get that 5 inch ''been there forever' bolt out its a doddle to fit

where should i look for the bolt that could be a pain as i might spay it with some wd40 while i wait for my guard to arrive. thanks
