thanks for this link was very helpfull now just need to find out if its on or off as the dif lock light does no longer work nor the oil pressure gauge or coolant tempeture gauge

If the diff lock, locks the front to back in a 50:50 power split, what is the normal driving set up when the diff lock is not engaged?

There is no way to lock the diffs across the same axle is there?

You guys seriously need to read the f**king manual or you're gonna get sick of being told to :search: every time you ask a question.

i dont have a manual its hard to get one seing as the 1988 110 was originally a 3.5 v8 then converted to a j19 box and engine so its a bit of a hybrid i only have 4 fuses on the steering columb too

after checking obvious like fuses,if you get to difflock switch on front of t/box it should have 2 wires to switch one should have 12v to it when ignitions on the other goes to earth ,if you short live wire to earth if light comes on change switch (prc2911)if not folow wire back to bulkhead near clutch pedal box then behind dash ,similar with temp sender and oil pressure switch

i have a land rover 110 with a j19 engine and gear box in my silly question is how do you put diff lock on and what is it used for ????? please help:confused::confused::confused:

Don't let the grumpy buggers on here get you down. Like old farty labradors, they're okay so long as you don't forget to feed them.
I find casually referring to your Land Rover as a "truck" is an excellent way to ensure they get some exercise.
Welcome aboard. :)

Thanks for the advice an the displays that dont work will have a play tomorrow if i can get my new ignition switch from romac

I use a couple of technical forums and advise on one, DIYNOT.com and a couple of old house restoration ones. I have used a couple of car ones in the past SAAB etc

This forum is by a million miles the worst for abusing new people or people asking the 'silly question'.

Sometimes folk are just completly unsure of something and nip on to ask a bit of advice to get a bit of comfort they are on the right track or jsut simply because its not there strong point yet.

In time educating new people will give better feedback and more knowledge to give opinions to others in future.

A bit of banter is a good laugh but simply slating someone because you know and they dont is pathetic. If you think someone is in your opinion an idiot because they dont know something about their new Landrover then and it doesnt warrant your precious time to reply then dont f*kin bother. But if you do, dont just say hey your a neep for not knowing that!

This forum is the way it is and it obviously works. Spend a bit of time on here and you'll get sick of the same ridiculous questions being asked all the time and by ridiculous I mean this thread as an example. If you're going to spend a fair amount of your hard earned cash on a vehicle wouldn't you at least do a little research into how & why things like diff lock work before buying it? or when you've bought it and realise you don't know the answer, try reading a manual? or do you just want to go onto forums and be spoon fed all the info you want?

Anyway if you don't like it........there's always LRO ;)

Thank you for pointing out the error of our ways. Without you to keep us in line this forum would probably cease to be the biggest landrover forum there is, with the highest membership and the highest postings rate.

After all with 17 posts to your name. I'm sure that you have managed to work out exactly what we have all been doing wrong for the past 7 years or so that LZ has been in existence.

Good. Why should we pander to fookwits

Sometimes folk are just completly unsure of something and nip on to ask a bit of advice to get a bit of comfort they are on the right track or jsut simply because its not there strong point yet.

And then they disappear, never to be seen again after raping us for our knowledge, rather than joining in the community.

Or noobies can realise that what they want to ask has been covered before and there is a plethora of information available on this site, if they'd only do :search:FFS, first. If they still need clarification about something then they will be treated better by saying 'I've dun a surch but im not sure by what is ment by.....'

Oh....hey you're a neep for not knowing that,

dunt let the door slam on yer arse on ya way out.

P.s. the grammar police cannot be arsed tonight.

i cant quite see why the hassel for simple questions ,simple is relative anyhow ,ive seen quite a few regulars ask simple questions ,ive also seen quite a few complain about such when they never answer tech questions anyway so wheres the inconvenience there

Im sure over the last 7 years, the same questions have been asked many times, i.e. " my heater doesnt work" every winter. If we all searched for the answers the forum might as well close down. Just because some people reply with comments to up their post count dosent make them any wiser than "newbies" Keep asking questions however trivial and most decent members will do their best to give good advice:)

I really do get it from existing long term members point of view. Ive not had it myself maybe because Ive not asked that daft a question yet but Ive seen folk agressively slated on their first post and it seems a shame of a welcome to the Landy community. I just think 'use the search mate there is loads on your topic already covered' is a slightly nicer approach than 'you f*kin retard imagine not knowing the diff split ratio when diff lock is engaged, give me your reg im coming round to shove that fookin diff lock lever right up yer fukin arse sideways whilst doing wheel spins on yer ball sack with my big mud pluggers rarrrrrrrrrrr I hate newbies

ps anyone know how to make a chocolate fondont...........
