Hi there,
I've replaced the N/S inner and outer sills. My question is how is the rear end of the sill supposed to be closed off. Someone has fabricated a lower rear wheel arch extension so this may be the fault. The sill doesn't quite reach the forward face of the wheel arch.

Also, there is a protrusion from the sill rearwards. Is that supposed to go through a slot in the wheel arch and be bent over or is it normally bent over and welded to the forward face of the wheel arch.
A description of preferably a photo of that area from anyone's car that is original or repaired correctly would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Is it possible you could give a little more info about the car and model year - photos are also great for getting the right people to chip in with answers.

It is closed by the wheel arch. If a bit of the arch is missing just fabricate a closure panel. The tang is supposed to be spot welded to a simular tang on the wheel arch.

burbler , look in my albums its all there. the rear extentions are only £5 from paddocks but I copied them in stainless as they like to rust.

The front for the rear arches as unavailable and I saw a pair of rusty but unused britpart ones gor for £104 in the summer

So i thought sod that and made a pair in stainless too! its all there in the pics!

PM if you need any help

It's a 1973 2-door.

Thanks others for the links, I'm sure they'll be a great help.

oh and I drilled and tapped mine on to the sill and arch as I wanted to be able to take them off easily for fuel pump access
