a no motor vehicles sign (red circle with a car and a motorbike) and underneath written "except for permit holders apr-30 sept and access, what does it all mean! dont want to drive it without knowing if i can legally do so first

If yer on about the tennyson trail down near freshwater (through the middle of the golg course) then don't bother. It was TRO'd about 2 years ago. If you take a disabled person with you it is ok to drive. The sign says 'except permit holders'.;)

It means no motor vehicles. Seems like there are a couple of new members from the Isle of Wight at the moment.
 
it means no motor vehicles unless yer a permit holder and then only between the dates! I don't see how they could have made that any clearer!
 
it was the trail from brighstone to carisbrook i was looking at but will stay well clear now, glad i didnt drive it

Yep. That's part of the Tennyson trail. I have some pics of my old defender on the trail 2 weeks before it was closed to vehicles.
