aye using stud extractors ends in tears, i'd do as slob says and drill the head off, like he also says yer wheels studs will hold the drum on fine. you'll probably find the drum is still stuck pretty hard one you've got the screw head off!

Ok tried the hammer and punch, diddnt work. Drilled the head off the screw but now I come to the next problem, the drum is completly stuck. I have tried slacking the adjusters right off and that diddnt work. Tried brute force and that diddnt work. Tried the hammer and that method also is not working. What the hell do I try now???
 
tap all around the outside of the drum the gently tap it from the rear, carfull not to break the eadge of the drum.

Did you get the screwheads completely off?
 
is there not a hole in the front of the drum, like between the wheel studs somewhere, in which you can screw a bolt into to allow you to pop the drum off? that and a bit of rubber mallet usually do to job.
 
if ya apply a bit of heat to the drum near the centre where it fits over the hub it usually pops off...not too much tho coz u will end up cooking everything ta ****

it certainly is ollie! if yer drums have bin on fer years and yer brakes are getting renewed. it might be better in the long run just to get the biggest hammer you can find and smash **** outta them from behind.

you can spend ages trying to get them off and end up damaging them in the end so yer can save time by beating crap outta them, after you have spent a short time going through all the other methods.
this means that when yer finished you'll have nice new drums to go with yer nice noo shoes.

another thing to consider before picking up yer big hammer is this..
will the drums be worn beyond use? if there is a good chance them is worn/scored then beat them off.

of course they may pop off with that little screw in the hole and a gentla tap round the edge with a soft mallet. and its also possible that yella will give up shagging sheep
 
Do you know what thread the screw is slob?

If i remember rightly the coutersunk screw fits, but he has detroyed that.:)
 
int it 3/8 unf? and even thout the counter one fit ah think its too short to be of any use
 
once adjusters backed off you could try slacking off the brake bleed nipple this should allow the shoes to move inwards and clear the drum not so much hammering needed
 
I used the hole in the middle of the brake drum which released the rust, then I just had to simply pull off the drum! I degreased the shoes (looks like the oil seal needs replacing) and the drum, put it and the wheel back on and now when I try to do an emergency stop it stops without pulling to the left and leaving me in a hedge!!
 
degreased the shoes???? not a good idea !!

if they have bin contaminated with oil/grease then bin em.
 
you ought to get that seal ASAP otherwise it will be chucking you into a headge again :D

Oil and braking don't mix :D
 
I know but it's not on the road at the moment, it's just being used for farm work and just a temporery fix would do. We are going to restore it next year hopefully
