Personally I went with 3” rock sliders as I’ve seen where steps can become water traps leading to rusty sills, before fitting I sprayed the inside and outside with dinitrol, along with drilling several water drainage holes in the bottom of the rock sliders ,

Plus the plastic sill covers sometimes require them to be cut, for my rock sliders that wasn’t required as there are left in situ
