is it legal to have pipe blowing out the side like in picture without the end pointing downward :crazy_driver:

I did mine a while ago with tax disc holder ring

When I first did the side exit on the defender I put it straight through no boxes, it sounded great for the first week them it starts to become annoying, I reccomend some sort of silencer or you will end up doing job twice ....

Mine's just straight through with no box. It sounds ok on short journey's but if you're travelling some distance the sound can get a bit annoying as Goody8 says.

I did similar on my classic i lay underneath it made a angle template.Went to a tyre exhaust center and asked them if i could have a bit of scrap exhaust pipe..Help yourself was the answer,I found a really nice section with the bends just where i needed them,I think it was of a merc sprinter van.Went home.Next day Removed the rear section from the classic, Cut end off original pipe,The scrap pipe i tack it on to the original that i had removed and cut.Offered the modified end pipe up all looked ok.Marked and cut hole in lower panel. All now looked ok ,Removed the pipe again and mig welded it.Nice chrome end piece and the job looked a good un.

Pretty much the same I kept the exhaust of the 200tdi disco I took the heart from and cut it turned it added a few extra bends and hey presto side exit done took about half a day with tweaking mounts etc.

By the time everyone's talked about it you could have gone out and done it. Piece of ****, dump all the boxes as it sounds great and not noisy inside the cabin.
