Hi guys

Well after fitting my new voltage regulator both me and son andy looked at both exhaust's that we had the old but nearly new 2.5TD one and the new 200TDI one we bought this week that andy fitted but with a straight through pipe but without the rear exhaust fitted as we needed to decide what we was doing with it and whilst we was deciding this week andy got a quote from an exhaust place to make up a solid but shaped rear section to come out of the rear wing and they quoted us £95 to do this  and we had to cut the hole aswell so we looked at both exhaust's and decided to do it our selves as we found out that if we cut 4 slots in the piece off the new rear TDI silencer with flang to join the new straight through pipe that was joining a piece we chopped off the old TD rear section we could join together and we would have a solid exhaust instead of using flexi pipe and it looks great and sounds good too.

will post pic's later :D

Just need to make some brackets to come off the chassis using exhaust U clamps to hold the exhaust to the brackets so I will do them on Monday when I am off weather permitting :)

Neat bit of work there, i keep thinking about doing this myself but keep getting hijacked by my boy to do stuff on he's car.

Looks good. Does it rattle? I cut my hole very near the size of the pipe and it rattled like mad. Ended up cutting mine a lot bigger to allow movement in the pipe without it hitting the bodywork.

There is movement in the hole but I need to make a couple of securing brackets to stiffen the exhaust yet as the rear section is fouling the tub and the chassis just under the tub but most of it is due to weight as the two rubbers and hanger bars are not enough but if the weather is ok on Monday I will sort this :)

If your having problemo's with ya tip rattling in the hole hahaa you know she ain't the one!, lol can wrap some exhaust fabric wrap and zip tie it up tight on the inside!
Can get a metre of the stuff on eBay for few quid!

Are nice one yeah i will look into, that for now we have put some rubber round it but i am going to secure the rest of the exhaust later when i get up and see how it is as i may have to tweak the rear joints to get it all right and not rattling anywhere.

will post more pic's later :D

Right i have tweaked the exhaust slightly and fitted a bracket to come off what would have been the rear silencer bracket on the rear X member then used the rest of the new exhaust bracket to cable tie some of the wiring too for the rear lights but i will be monitoring the bracket to see if it will get too warm if it does then i will have to make some P brackets and fasten else where.

here's a couple of pic's of the bracket in place

Looks good mate just done mine but the exhaust is now to rigid causing a bad vibration I've put centre section on rubber mounts side exit on u bolts. Just woundering if to weld 2 flexi sections on centre section

Where'd you get that mount for the back? I could use one for mine as it is pretty much the same size as the hole and rattles a fair bit a particular rev range / frequency.

Looks good though - could be a bigger 'ole :D
