At Kelmarsh last year, when you drove into the car park you were given a plastic casino betting chip. Security on the gate wouldn't let you drive out unless you could hand one back.
We turned up in my Disco and stopped to ask for whatever the guard was handing out. We had followed a couple of Defenders in and wanted what they had been given!
The guy told us what they were and what they were for, then didn't give me one.
I was that ****ed off that he thought nobody would want to steal it I felt like not bothering to lock it :(

When YFO goes back on the road I think i'll have it tracked

Discovery’s don’t seem to get stolen any more than any other car
With Defender it will only get worse as prices creep up over time and no more are being made.
Some older pre-Def Land Rovers are in the big money category already.
The guy who bought our 90 was going to put it in his “investment barn”

Yes, which is why when YFO goes back on the road, most likely after a full rebuild, it'll be micro chipped, UV penned, smart watered, data logged, tagged, given training about not to talk to strangers, GPS tracked and always kept on a lead!

For a number of years there has been a tratter stolen from the Scottish show. It's becoming more common to nick parts from shows. Yer get a whole car park full of tratters for many hours left unattended. Sadly it's owners wanting the bits and prepared to buy second hand which fuels it. I think owners should be warned on the gate and more security.

At this years Scottish show they had Defender parking inside the actual show ground and lined up on display when the owners arrived they had to give the security staff a password which had to match when they were leaving also they seemed to have more security guards on patrol. Seemed to work as never heard of any thefts this year maybe other shows should do something similar.

I'd like to propose this for next year's Billing show...
Attack dogs on patrol and any scum caught thieving are tied up and kept in the arena without food or water until the last day when they are thrown into the mud pit (still bound) and then the victims get a free run through the mud... (or six)

OR, if they insist on a trial, give them the ducking stool with witch regulations. Ducking stool in the canal, then dispose of the corpse behind in the mud pit :)

and that is why i dont go to shows anymore, i used to be heavily into the air cooled VW scene, the same sort of stuff happened there in later years, mid to late 90's it didnt seem so bad :(

Same in ford camp, got to the point when you daren't leave any towing eye or sill jacking pnt overs on any RS fords if you were parkig up anywhere like a show as the would be gone by time you got back

early 90's seems to be car badges that got pinched
