Ok folks, today I fitted my EGR blanking kit and to make life easier
I removed the airflow valve and the intake hose to the turbo...
both were full of a black, oily substance (presumably oil)
which doesn't seem right to me so I figured I should ask....

Should that oily crap be there? I cleaned out the hose to be on
the safe side but there was also evidence of it at both ends
of the old pipe that got replaced when I blanked off the EGR.

Fair enough, I'll ignore it then and just have the pipes off
for a clean every now and then so it doesn't build up.

Both situations quite normal, just clean them out service time.

Also there will be a lot of tar-like crâp in the inlet manifold and importantly on the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor. This needs taking out and spray with brake and clutch cleaner.
